Here is my feedback:
I dowloaded the latest version from gpsdrive , unpacked it and
launched ./configure
everything seems ok until the following message :
could not find Perl module:Slurp
I finally solved the issue by setting the LC_LANG variable to ""
I now get my correct position by typing
export LC_LANG="" before gpsdrive
