Without taking anything away from pgRouting, just adding more options to
consider -- I should also mention that GRASS's network routing code was
written as a standalone GPL library with the hope that it could be
useful to other projects:

functionality for vector network analysis. This library released under
GPL is hosted by the GRASS project (in the CVS server). As stand-alone
library it may also be used by other software project."
A working example can be found in the Grass source code, look at the
d.path and v.net.* modules, and lib/vector/Vlib/net.c
