so I don't know really much about this legal stuff, but is it enough, to write 
the header line you mentioned into all the source files, and add somewhere 
(mabe in AUTHORS) a line:
"The GpsDrive Development Team are:"
followed by all the names.

or do the names have to be mentioned in the source files themselves?
the the svn script method should be appropriate.

one other thing:
there are a lot of comments inside the source that say "mod by..."
my opinion is, these statements don't belong there and should be removed.
