Hello all,

 

            I am a student at NJIT and I am working on a project that would
allow emergency services (police, fire, ect..) to view reported fires,
crimes, and medical problems on a GPS map in real time. I was wondering what
the format was for creating icons. I would like to make my own icon set for
GPSdrive. Do you have any documentation about making your own icon set? I
would also like to know where I can find the source for making my own friend
server. Thank you for your time.

You are welcome to help! (In fact my daughter creates some icons I only
answer 
questions here. ;-) ) The format you should use is "svg". This can be scaled

and therefore we are more flexible. A good idea would be to use inkscape 
which is open source as well. (http://www.inkscape.org/download/)

GPSDrive itself reads png, but as Martin already stated svg is probably the 
best, because it can easily be combined and scaled later.

The friendsd should be included in all gpsdrive src tar archives.
