Also, each time I start up and shut down gpsdrive with no other action
in between, last lat and long change. I would put this down to
simulation mode being forced on.

I am using mysql for waypoints, so that could be part of the
problem. As long as I don't try adding waypoints, I don't see
NaNs. The search function shows correct coordinates once I get a
waypoint into the DB.
