Thank you for your quick and detailed responses.

The hint about the included information has helped me much.
I will take some of the PD pictures.

About the GPL/release hassle - I wouldn't have any problem
to publish my code under the GPL, but there are other students
developing other parts of the application and imagine they
would use foreign sources with another incompatible license ...
As the program probably will not be released, I won't
violate others' rights for nothing. I'm happy with with
some icons just as a proof of concept :)
