[ gpsdrive ] OSM map position, osm2pgsql flags

Ok, before I had to load the map with the -M option or my position would me
shown a long way to the north of the actual position (France).
Re-loaded the database after upgrading to the svn version of gpsdrive and
0.5.1 of mapnik as it had the same problem, showing to far north despite
having used the -M switch.
Re-loaded the database using the -m switch instead last night and its showing
up too far south, tried again with -M and, again, too far north (all n and s
is displayed position).
The only other option I can see is -l, when I tried that with 2.10.pre4
(ubuntu package) gpsdrive didn't know what to do with the data so I'm guessing
that's not it. I see the -m option is now the default for osm2pgsql, stupid
thought but there is no chance that specifying -m is causing it to accumulate
the offset, ie. doing the sums on the data twice? I know, stupid idea :)
Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?
cheers

BTW, svn revision 9582 of osm2pgsql, 2026 of gpsdrive.
