Because GpsDrive is no longer in the business of parsing NMEA. We leave
that solely to the Gpsd software rather than compete with their superior resources. This means a wider range of GPS devices and higher nav refresh
rates can be supported and we can focus our finite energy on the mapping
side of things.

As you can direct Gpsd to a specific device there should be no loss in
functionality.
