Showing live rendering of mapnik data inside gpsdrive is probably the most
important stuff. This is not prefetching the tiles, but using the mapnik Mode
for rendering.
Besides there are the new POI System wit all the icons and the new
Userinterface specially designed for CarPCs
	gpsdrive -M car

Yes; mapnik-osm-updater.sh and the new gpsfetchmap.pl will be in the release.
So you can use both modes live-rendering and prefetched-tiles in the
upcomming 2.10final.
For the debian packages you will (probably) find the mapnik download and
install stuff in the package openstreetmap-utils.

I don't know if any of those will make it to the release, but we started a
windows Compile and we already compiled gpsdrive for OpenMoko...

If you announce and show OSM that's the best I can wish for!!
