I did a make install and osm.xml was now installed in :

/usr/local/share/gpsdrive/osm.xml

Running gpsdrive in debug mode I noticed it was looking for osm.xml in :

/usr/local/share/mapnik/osm.xml

So I moved the file to /usr/local/share/mapnik/osm.xml

Mapnik now works when running gpsdrive from any directory, but still no road
names :-(
