I personally see the svn-sourcetree as the main source for persistent
information about the project. This should state for Beginners- and
Newbies-Info as well as for advanced experts. This is the reason, why we need
READMEs and HOWTOs for the different Platforms and different skill levels.

This is the reason why your input is really really helpfull to us. You do have
another point of view to all the stuff. So you are the one who can tell us
which are the steps we will have to describe for someone starting with these
things (which might seem obvious for the expirienced users). If they would
sound too trivial to me I would start a new README.newbie. But for now they
sounded usefull for the average user and that's what we need.

Well, we can improve this if the maintainer get more input like your to add to
FAQ, README, ...

If you find more dependencies not mentioned in the package or documentation,
please tell us.

This will probably have to be a dependency for mapnik. I just sent Artem
(Maintainer of Mapnik) a short note about this.

But this is only possible, because you helped us to see where problems outside
our developer island can be seen.

So a great thanks to you and I would really love to see more constructive
comments and HOWTOs like yours.
