Could I take a look at Hamish's instructions please? I would like to
get the New Zealand Coastal charts into gpdsrive, but as a noob to
gpsdrive I don't know where to start.
At the moment LINZ releases raster charts - see here :
http://www.hydro.linz.govt.nz/charts/raster-navcharts/index.asp
I have no idea what format these are in, but looking at the big list
of software that can view the charts I guess its in some standard
usable format. I also have to find out about the encryption and how I
can get around that.
The NZ government website mentions new electronic versions will be
available this year, quote from their site:
LINZ is currently producing the first official set of ENCs. These ENCs
are specifically designed for use in electronic navigational systems
onboard ships. This new electronic chart format when used with ECDIS
(Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems) give the mariner
access to a wide range of safety functionality and support integration
with other navigational systems.
from http://www.hydro.linz.govt.nz/charts/e-navcharts/index.asp
I am hoping these ENC's will be able to be converted for use with gpsdrive.
Any help or direction appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy.

We are following Hamish's instructions for the NOAA charts but its not there yet. I would much rather be working on integrating the AIS requirements which could be leveraged off the friends tracking server code somehow. I would favor a version for the nautical users only crowd. fdr
