[ gpsdrive ] NASA maps

I am new to GPSDrive, and i was wondering if the NASA maps still work?
I cant seem to find, let alone download the suggested maps.
The URL's in the readme doesnt work. Atleast not for me.
I tried looking for the maps elsewhere, and fount the mirrors.arsc.edu server 
taht hosts some NASA maps.
But i dont seem to be able to get the right ones..
GPSDrive loads the map i renamed in  .gpsdrive/nasamaps
But all i get in the viewport is "static". A grey image full of bitmap noise.

I am running it (version 2.09) on SLED 10 sp1 for those interested.
Using a BU-353 USB GPS Reciever.
