Alright - it works! Likely the last of those symlinks (slightly different on
Gentoo).
I hadnt installed the CPAN modules either, don't know if installing them
made a difference (took them from portage and not using the CLI).

Have to mention that I was also about 25km south with my database.
Reinstalled the tables without the -m flag to osm2pgsql and then it was
correct.
