I had a quick look at the HOW-TO. Great Work. Maybe you can do some steps
easier. So I have the hints for this added. Even building your own debian
packages shouldn't be too difficult. Just download the source:
svn co svn.gpsdrive.cc/gpsdrive
svn co svn.openstreetmap.org/applications
dive into the apropriate directories
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/share/map-icons
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/utils
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/rendering/mapnik/openstreetmap-mapnik-data
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/rendering/mapnik/openstreetmap-mapnik-world-boundaries
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/editors/osm-editor/qt4
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/editors/osm-editor
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/editors/osm-editor/qt3
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/editors/josm
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/editors/merkaartor
svn.openstreetmap.org/sites/support/osm-autologger
svn.gpsdrive.cc/gpsdrive
and call
debuild binary
I see you have some dependencies listed to install manualy. Are these not
installed by the gpsdrive-debian package?
Doesn't Ubuntu have any packages for perl-DBI::*
wouldn't it be easier to directly use the debian Repository at
www.gpsdrive.de/debian ?
World boundaries:
The new Debian Packages on gpsdrive.de sould include all needed World
boundaries. Would be great if you can give me Feedback if any is missing.
postgis:
isn't the script
mapnik-osm-updater.sh
easier to set up the Database?
Or is there anything which is not working on Ubuntu?
Install osm2pgsql:
This should also be included in the debian package openstreetmap-utils which
can be found on www.gpsdrive.de/debian.
Download osm data:
Should be handled by
mapnik-osm-updater.sh
