Not sure I'll try it again without this but the first run through did
throw up some errors related to odbc but it may have been something else
all together.

Not sure on this, as I only use ubuntu for gpsdrive. Normally I use suse.
If you can point out where this may be listed I'll look at redoing this
section.

Understand that but I had heaps of errors when using
"mapnik-osm-updater.sh" and decided to go back to basics. ie install each
component separately and ensure they are working then move on to the next
component.
My whole intention with this was to get it working so that it can be
replicated consistently and if there is a problem then it can be easily
located.
I will have the next draft sometime today as I found a couple of problems
my self last night.
