I was sure others were considering the eeePC when I posted my questions. I
have been trying to learn enough of Linux to install some programs that I
would use a lot. I now have GPSdrive installed but I think I missed
something because I am not able to get GPS sentences from my Holux GR-213. I
has a Serial to USB cable. I downloaded a Linux driver from Holux but have
no instructions for installation.
Can someone give "how-to" suggestions.
I was able to start GPSdrive from "file manager" by double clicking on the
executable file " //usr/bin/gpsdrive". The display is larger than the small
eeePC screen and I have to drag the display by using "Alt-key mouse left
key" to drag.
For use with marine charts that is OK because my sail boat has maximum speed
of 8 Knots.
