[ gpsdrive ] gpsdrive for small screen laptops

There is a command line for setting a smaller screen to fit the full map to
the eeePC smaller screen.  For details see
http://wiki.eeeuser.com/howto:gpsd  (page 3).
I have not tried it yet, but it makes sense.

Maybe you try gpsdrive -M car

You can also try
gpxlogger
or even
kismet.
or purists use
cat /dev/pgs
which results in nmea.
