start gpsdrive without any options and it should connect to a locally running 
gpsd server automatically.

the -t option for a direct serial connection is obsolete. gpsdrive relies on 
gpsd for getting the gps data now.

have you tried xgps, so you can see if at least the gps-gpsd connection works?
