how far out is it?

I think the biggest problem is that there is next to no documentation or
code comments with it. I'd be interested in working on GDAL integration,
but I have no idea where to start with that code or why choices were made
to code it that way.

eg, from README.lib_map: "The above world file does not give sensible
results in other GDAL applications it uses a special hard coded case."

??? how/why/what?


having said that, it may be really neat code which it would be a shame to
lose, and this is c.2005 not 1999 so maybe not so far out...
