I'd suggest putting them in ~/.gpsdrive/maps/noaa/11466_top/*.png  etc.
It just takes a minute with vi/sed/nedit regex to fix the
map_koord_draft.txt file for the dirname before adding it into the master
map_koord.txt file.

true, but due to the need for tiling, the map dirs will need to hold many
more files per entity than wpt/rte/trk.
