as compiling with gdal support currently doesn't change anything in gpsdrive
and the tools in the utils directory are independent of the rest, it is a
good place to play around with the code without destroying anything...
but if nobody knows, what the code really does, maybe it is better to write
new gdal based functionality from scratch or by looking at existing and
working gdal bases free software...
