[ gpsdrive ] size of dashboard boxes

Hi,

wrt an earlier thread about getting the dashboard background color to
turn red for night-mode, which lead to a question about how to make those
boxes smaller so more screen real-estate could be dedicated to the maps...

this lead to the explanation by Guenther that the height of those boxes
is determined by the minimap preview and the compass.


my idea for desktop mode is to move the compass to above the minimap and
then make both part of the left-edge panel (making it 5px wider I guess).
The the three dashboard text boxes could shrink to ~ 1cm tall and there
would be less empty grey space above the minimap / below the Clear button
and a more efficient use of space.


And for PDA mode use XOR'd yellow 40pt text overlay for some dashboard
essentials. Maybe add text color to the prefs menu if auto-inversion
doesn't look nice.
