Script package and tabs/buttons dedicated to downloading maps and processing
them "automagically" from wms or other server sources. Its the processing of
tiles that's really the issue and that could be automated in theory. So for a
marine application of gpsdrive, downloading maps would then be as simple as
expedia sources. At this time I think this would be limited probably to NOAA
mapping sources however.

There would be no dependency on openstreetmap, mapnick or any other component
to keep the package as small and robust as possible.

Those are the two big issues I can think of, but as I don't know the program
well enough at this point I cant really comment further.

Since gpsdrive cannot be used for route planning as described in the docs, and
I understand why, perhaps there is a workaround as that would complete a
simple and basic marine ECS.
