also, now it is possible for Ubuntu you might try "svn checkout", turn
off GDA3 and MAPNIK support in DefineOptions.cmake, and run
"debuild binary" then "dpkg -i ../gpsdrive*.deb".

Or perhaps my Etch package works; probably some unneeded perl deps to
override:
