and that's exactly what I'm attempting to do  :)

step 1 is to keep the code base modular, which has benefits far beyond
a single distro release. we're pretty much there now. (thanks)

really, one last near-feature complete release is all I'm after, then
I'll probably let go and aim for lenny.
