[ gpsdrive ] Mapnik doesn't show a map

Have you set up the database according to
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapnik/PostGIS ?

You could try osm2pgsql ( http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Osm2pgsql )
directly, that is my preferred method. Run
$ osm2pgsql -m -d gis yourmap.osm.bz2

(remove the "-m" if projection is off by some 10 km).
