[ gpsdrive ] Using Gpsdrive for Longer Trips

I have established that gpsdrive works on my laptop.  Now I want to take it to
the next step: downloading a larger map (Australian state) so that I can have
the maps on my usb memory stick ... and I do not have to have an internet
connection while 'on the road'.  Can we do this ... and where shall I find a
howto which will guide me on this process.
